Let's Make History, Not Repeat It

On May 18, 2021, there's an election that will influence the next four years of educational opportunity for Black students in Pittsburgh.

It’s time to end years of superficial change and status quo for Black students and families. And it’s time to be honest about the fact that in the last five years, things have been getting worse, not better. We need everyone to show up, get engaged, and vote for new school board leadership.

We need a competent board, effective district leadership, and high-quality alternatives to perennially failing schools. If you are new to Pittsburgh education politics or just getting up to speed on what is at stake in this election, here are five things to know about the recent history of Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS).
